BIM timber structures — FAQ

What LOD do I need for permits and fabrication?

For most mass timber and timber frame projects, permit sets use LOD 300–350 (our PRO package), where the BIM timber model supports coordination and approvals. Full fabrication, CNC preparation and detailed mass timber element lists require LOD 400 (FAB) with element IDs, tolerances and connection detailing coordinated with your fabricator and suppliers.

Do you cover USA codes for timber structures?

Yes. The USA coefficient ×1.12 in our pricing reflects additional work for IBC, NDS and ASCE 7 requirements and vendor/file coordination for US BIM timber structures. We support US-based engineers of record, but PE/SE stamps are not included in our base service.

Can you deliver BTL/BTLx/BVN CNC files?

Yes. For CLT/GLT/LVL and other mass timber elements we can prepare CNC outputs (BTL/BTLx/BVN) and nesting according to the fabricator’s specifications. This is part of the optional CNC preparation scope in the FAB BIM timber package.
