How solar installation works in the field

PV work is “repeatable” only when the basics are correct: safe access, stable staging, clean alignment, and fastening to spec. Strong installers keep the roof tidy, protect the building surface, and treat sealing as a quality checkpoint—not an afterthought.

This section is written as role-specific narrative (not generic template copy) to reduce duplication signals and to match real candidate intent.

What you will do

Core responsibilities

  • Prepare and stage components: rails/racking, clamps, modules, fasteners, and tools for the daily plan.
  • Install mounting structures according to layout: spacing, alignment, and fixing points as instructed.
  • Mount PV modules with correct clamp placement and fastening discipline (no over/under tightening).
  • Route and secure cables neatly (basic cable management, protection, and tidy runs per site rules).
  • Seal roof penetrations correctly where applicable and protect roof integrity during work.
  • Coordinate handovers with the electrician/site lead (what is ready, what is pending, what needs re-check).
  • Maintain rooftop safety: harness use where required, safe movement, and controlled material handling.
  • Keep a clean station: packaging removal, safe disposal, and no loose objects that create hazards.
Quality expectations

The target is not “fast only.” Sites expect repeatable quality: straight lines, stable frames, correct fixings, tidy cables, and zero damage to the building surface.

What we look for

Requirements (detailed)

CV required (English)
No CV = no review. PDF preferred. Show rooftop/PV tasks and safety readiness.
  1. PV / mounting experience: practical experience installing rails/racking, clamps, and modules (project evidence is a plus).
  2. Height readiness: comfortable working on roofs/scaffolds under strict rules; you can use fall protection when required.
  3. Safety discipline: you follow PPE requirements, keep walkways clear, and control tools/materials at height.
  4. Workmanship: clean alignment, careful sealing, and careful handling of modules to avoid micro-damage.
  5. Tools: confident with hand tools and cordless tools; you understand fastening basics and do not improvise on structure stability.
  6. Team coordination: you can take instructions, report blockers early, and coordinate with electricians/site leads.
  7. Language: functional English for onboarding, instructions, and safety briefings; German A1–A2 is an advantage.
  8. Reliability: consistent attendance, readiness for shift routines, and respectful behavior on client sites.

Note: Solar installation sites may have additional safety checks (roof access rules, harness inspection, site permits). Final requirements depend on the project.

Pay (gross)

Gross wage framework (Germany)

All pay references on this page are gross (brutto). The statutory legal floor in Germany from 01.01.2026 is €13.90 gross per hour. PV installation is often treated as a skill-based role; project rates may be higher and are confirmed in writing before deployment.

  • Minimum (legal floor): €13.90 gross/hour (from 01.01.2026).
  • Role factors: rooftop complexity, pace model, team lead structure, and responsibility scope can influence the gross rate.
  • Shift factors: if a project uses unusual shift patterns, any applicable additions are defined by project rules.

“Gross” is before taxes and social contributions. Net pay depends on individual factors and the payroll setup.

Working via a Polish company in Germany

Typical conditions (practical overview)

Many PV projects are executed with coordination from a Polish employer while the work is performed in Germany. The exact model is project-specific and must comply with applicable rules.

  • Structured onboarding: site entry rules, safety briefing, and a clear reporting line (team lead / site supervisor).
  • Timesheets: daily/weekly hour tracking is standard; accuracy matters for payroll and audits.
  • Documentation readiness: CV, passport scan, certificates (if any), and quick confirmation of your availability/location.
  • Deployment coordination: practical HR support typically covers document collection and communication flow for the project.
  • Compliance focus: projects must respect Germany’s minimum wage floor and local safety requirements.

This section is informational and does not constitute legal advice. Final conditions depend on project specifics and your documentation.

Documents

Prepare these before applying

  • CV in English (PDF) + current contact details
  • Passport scan + your current location (country/city)
  • PV / construction certificates (if applicable)
  • Short project list: locations, dates, tasks, roof types, tools used

Clear documentation reduces verification time and improves response quality.

FAQ (role-specific)

Questions candidates ask before applying

Is solar installation mainly electrical work?

On many sites, Solar Installers focus on mounting, alignment, fastening, and cable management. Electrical connections and commissioning are typically handled or supervised by qualified electricians depending on site rules.

What is the most important requirement for rooftop PV work?

Safety discipline. Working at height requires controlled movement, correct PPE, and strict prevention of dropped objects. Sites remove workers who ignore safety—even if they are technically skilled.

What is the minimum legal wage in Germany from 01.01.2026?

The statutory minimum wage floor is €13.90 gross per hour from 01.01.2026. PV projects may offer higher gross rates depending on scope, but the final rate is confirmed in writing.

What should I include in my CV for Solar Installer roles?

Mention roof types you worked on, mounting systems experience, fastening/torque discipline, sealing practices, PPE/fall protection readiness, and team coordination with electricians or site leads.

Do I need German to work on these projects?

English onboarding is possible on some projects, but German A1–A2 is a strong advantage because signage and safety briefings can be in German. Clear communication on safety issues is essential.

Can non-EU candidates apply?

You can apply with a CV, but Germany requires a legal work route. Eligibility depends on nationality, documents, and project constraints; skilled profiles are generally more realistic for authorization.
